See below residues from pulp production that
are treated and reused by Iguaçu Celulose:
Lime Mud
Defined moisture content and calcium-carbonate rich, this
residue can be recycled as calcitic soil amendment. Under
an agriculture engineer’s supervision, it can be used
in magnesium-rich soil preparation for planting soybeans,
beans, coverage, corn, and eucalyptus as well as for fruit
farming. It is registered at the Agriculture Ministry as calcitic
soil amendment and it is also a filler, with a neutralizing
power above others, reaching over 95% of PN, working fast
in the soil.
Sludge from Effluent Treatment Stations
Resulting from the biologic decomposition of industrial liquid
residues, this sludge is especially rich in organic matter.
It is easily handled after pressing and is made into humus
when in contact with worms, a product widely in gardening
and farming; it is also used in the composition chain of substrate
for seedling nursery. It is a major agent for structuring
and keeping soil moisture, it has high nitrogen and phosphorous
content and can be used as organic fertilizer for a better
vegetation nutrition. The sludge (dry base) contains about
50% of organic matter, 16% of nitrogen and 1.5% of phosphorous,
with a pH of about 6.0.
Boiler Ash
This residue comes from burning of boilers producing vapor;
it is used in composting, also as a substrate component used
in seedling nursery and as raw material in the manufacturing
of activated carbon and as a cement pozzolanic agent. It is
also used in the pre-molding industry and in recovering degraded
areas. Its composition reaches 60% of organic matter, 2.6%
of potassio and calcium, with alkaline pH and micronutrients.
Pine Bark
It is used as biomass in vapor generation boilers, in composting
and as a component in substrate for seedling nurseries. The
decomposed material has about 35% of organic matter in addition
to macro and micronutrients.
Soap
Resin from the wood cooking process, separated from black
liqueur during evaporation/washing. Used in tall oil production.
