Imaribo Group was created by the resolve and entrepreneurship
of Marino Pisani, who, in the 1930’s, started buying
araucarias and selling wood because he believed this natural
resource, one of the oldest wealth exploited in Brazil, was
a very promising business.
Marino Pisani bought araucarias from landowners, but bringing
the wood to large urban centers, especially to São
Paulo, posed a major problem.
Instead of giving up, Marino Pisani saw it as a challenge
and decided to mill the wood. With this idea in mind, he partnered
other local entrepreneurs who joined capital to start the
first plant.
In 1943, with a lot of work and resolve, Indústria
Madeireira Rio Bonito Ltda started up in Tangará, Santa
Catarina State. Marino proved right: the milled wood was well
accepted in the market and business started growing.
After his death in1944, Carlos Waldemar and Nelson Pisani,
his sons, took over the family business together with the
other partners of Imaribo Group.
The following associations and incorporations carried out
in the Group triggered an expansion process in the facilities
of Santa Catarina and Paraná States, in the milled
wood market of São Paulo and in the export to countries
worldwide.
The synergy started in the 1940’s by immigrants and
their families, who joined capital, assets, entrepreneurship
and willingness to work, has built a solid Group that today
is a leader in the industry throughout the country.
